Why Working at a Daycare is a Smart Idea

"I've heard through another parent that you babysit. Do you have a business card on hand?"

Instant advertising. It's amazing what word of mouth does to for a babysitter.

Dear Inconsiderate Person I ran into today,

I understand that the term 'Teenage Mom' has become a frequent thing now-a-days, but I would appreciate if you didn't automatically assume that just because I am carrying a toddler with me, that I (someone who looks like a teenager, but really isn't!) would be the mother. It's rude and made you look stupid. There are such people that usually go by the names of Babysitter and Nanny who sometimes take care of other children. Please remember that the next time you feel like making a fool of yourself.

Thank you,
SuperSitter

Dear Parent that I Babysit for...

Dear Parent,

Thank you for asking if I need transportation to and from your house for the babysitting job I will do next weekend. I sincerely appreciate the offer and I think it shows common courtesy towards babysitters when you go the extra length to assure I have a ride to your house and from your house (and not automatically assuming that I will have transportation). Thank you again and I will enjoy taking babysitting jobs from you in the future.

Sincerely,
Appreciative Sitter

A Smart Way to Advertise Babysitting

As a daycare teacher, there is never a short supply of parents needing a babysitter for nights out or a back-up plan in case of daycare closures. My idea? Babysitting business card magnets, of course. They are super inexpensive, delivered in a timely manner and they are awesome because parents can now stick them on their refrigerater for safe keeping. I buy small note cards and stick a few small sheets of stickers along with the business card magnet and ta-da! Instant adverstising done for the parents with a special gift for the children, too.
